Pruss in Paris at UNESCO conference

Nella Pruss took part in the UNESCO General Conference in Paris

On October 30, the 39th session of the General Conference of UNESCO opened in Paris. Olga Vasilyeva, the Minister of Education and Science, headed the Russian delegation. National Coordinator of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network, President of the University of Management "TISBI" Nella Pruss and Head of the International Relations Department of the University of Management "TISBI" Regina Khisamutdinova participated in the conference activities.

Nella Pruss, UNESCO ASPnet national coordinator of the Russian Federation, met Sabine Detzel, UNESCO ASPnet international coordinator.

On this gathering, Nella Pruss and Sabine Detzel discussed the functioning of an Online Tool for ASPnet (OTA) which is designed to provide an effective vehicle for interactions and partnerships beyond borders among the Network members as well as to speed up the process of registering new members of the network.

Nella Pruss and Ms. Detzel expressed a common interest in creating a subnet of this trend, discussed the Russian experience in the development of cooperation between institutions of vocational education and the importance of the development of this segment in improving the quality of vocational education and the intensification of international cooperation in this field.

Ms. Sabine Detzel has endorsed the idea of holding a forum for ASPnet national coordinators of Canada and Europe in Kazan, marking the 65th anniversary of the ASPnet project, which will be held in 2018. There are 48 countries for today in the project. Nella Pruss supported the proposal.

During the meeting Ms. Detzel thanked the team of the University of  Management "TISBI" for its active cooperation with the UNESCO Associated Schools in Russia and highly appraised the commitment of Ms. Pruss.

Olga Vasilyeva, the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, represented Russia at the presidium. Later, during the official reception, she also highly estimated the work, performed by Nella Pruss as the UNESCO ASPnet national coordinator of the Russian Federation.

Head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia reported that today there are 65 UNESCO chairs at universities, 369 UNESCO associated schools (4% of the world network) in the Russian Federation. "UNESCO Chairs play an increasingly important role in the exchange of experience, knowledge and information on the whole range of issues related to higher education and science development, ensure the entry of Russian universities and scientific institutions into the existing worldwide system of multilateral interuniversity and scientific cooperation," said Mrs. Vasilyeva.

The General Conference approved Audrey Azule, the representative from France, as a nominee to the post of Director-General of UNESCO, and elected members of the Executive Board and a number of governing bodies of the intergovernmental and international programs of the organization.
